My favorite subject [this semester]

The subject that I enjoyed most this semester is "Dynamics of Chilean public administration", in this subject we have studied the process of modernization of the State looking for factors that have helped to improve the state.
We also learn to identify and interpret the levels of decentralization of public bodies (such as municipalities) and autonomous bodies (such as the Comptroller General of the Republic), very important things in the world of networks.
In this course we read many texts and we had a test but we have also worked with more fun ways to apply what we learn, for example a Role play where each person is an institution that wants to contribute in the solution of a problem, this type of activities motivate me to learn on my own about institutions, in this way I imagine which of all public institutions I could work hahahah.

We are currently in the process of delivering the second test, which is to study an institution that the teacher assigns us and make a "creative" material to explain how the institution works. I think I will make a video.

This is my favorite subject because I think it is the one that comes closest to the work that we will one day do or at least the work
that I want to do.

Career-related website

Hello, today I will write about the pages related to my career that I like the most; I can not say that I love them but they are very useful to do jobs.

The first is "Library of the National Congress of Chile"

Which is a web platform that serves to access laws or relevant information in a timely and above all reliable manner. What I like about this page is the section called "Easy Law" where the frequently asked questions are clarified, in a simple language and with many formats, it not only helps us as students, the mission of the "Easy Law" is to arrive to all civil society.

Another important page is the "Portal of Transparency" in this you can make claims and
request information from any Ministry or public service. If I can not find information
on the established website, I can makea request for information and
there must be an answer, even if it is negative.

I like this page for its usefulness and because it is based on the Transparency and advertising law, that is, its purpose is to facilitate the access of any person to the information on the actions of the administration.

There are many more portals such as Chilecompras, ChileAtiende or Gob.cl that fulfill important functions for the proper management of the state administration, but the ones I mentioned are the ones that I personally I use more.

My favorite movie

THE HELP

My favorite movie is called the Help and is set in the 60's in  Misisipi.
The film tells the history of  Eugenia Skeeter, a white woman who studied at the university and wants to pursue her career, Skeeter is not understood by her friends who belives that the development of women is linked to marriage.
Skeeter wants write a novel on a relevant topic and decides to do it from "the treatment recived by the black domestic workers". She compiled real histories for the domestic workers, someones happy, funny or sad.
She wants to publish her novel and change the reallity of those people who have worked for them since always and are already part of their family. For that she will have to fight with her family, an her friends and break up with her boyfriend.
This movie is incredible and  I LOVE IT, because is so dramatic and talks about two importants problems: the rol of women in the society and the racism. but at the same time has escenes very funny.
My favorite character  is Minny <3 because she is strong, determined, an excellente friend and the most fun in the movie.

This movie is very appealing, I am sure that when they see it, they will love it as much as I do.

My favorite Photo!

Hello, today I tell above my favorite photo.

This photo I taken at the beginning of March 2018 in the house of my  grandmother in Los vilos.
In the photo there are my little cousins: Victoria, Gabriel and Alonso and I love it because I see it when I miss my home.

In my family thereare many small children and so a lot of noise, games and disturbance, and we enjoy it. The most difficult thing to be in Santiago is not having all that when I get home.
The day I took the picture I was sad and happy at the same time, because my babies enter classes and we are very exited but I had to go back to Santiago to enter classes as well.

I usually take a photo when a school year begins for them. In that way I registered its growth.
Right now they have their winter holidays and they came to visit me to spend time together and this make me very happy. I am going to take many photos for when I miss my family.

Bread and Roses

"We want Bread, but Roses too"

The film shows the working conditions that the janitors -mostly undocumented immigrants-  must endure in order to keep their job.
The name of the film comes from the phrase "we want bread but roses too" used in the protest of Massachusetts immigrants of 1912, and replicated in the protests of the case "justice for the janitors".
The phrase tries to explain that although people who come to the US or another country looking for opportunities, are grateful to be able to have the basics, they also want to be able to choose more. as the Sam said "we want everything beautiful in life", everything that life can offer us to improve ourselves and to take care of ourselves and our families.
The final message of the movement was: The day they learn to organize and defend their rights, they will get the roses they want, it is necessary to fight to get roses. "Nobody will give you roses for free"

I loved the film because of its message and its realism, especially the scene of confrontation between Maya and her sister Rosa, since I believe that this scene shows the two positions, first Maya who is young and idealistic and in the second place Rosa who went through many unpleasant situations to be able to obtain her work, although she does not earn much she accepts it with submission, since she has two children and a husband who depend on her. Definitely Rosa is my favorite character.
Ever though I love the movie, I don't like the end because Maya was deported.

But the significant is that the message helps us as citizens of a country with high rates of immigrants, and even more so to us as future public administrators that in a few more years we will have to deal with issues like these.

It is important to understand that those who come to our country may not have documents but they are still people like us, people who have aspirations and families, people who leave their homeland and their people, who take a risk
in a unknown country, often without knowing the language; people who struggle to get roses.
